Funeral Information

Marilyn Powell, age 94, of Lake Benton, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, Minnesota.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hartquist Funeral Home in Lake Benton.

Darliss "Dar" Irene Garrow was born on June 24, 1943 to Harold and Marjorie (Barker) Evans in Pipestone, Minnesota. Dar grew up on a farm west of Pipestone and had an instant love for horses. She got her first horse when she was 11 years old and enjoyed riding horses for the rest of her life. Dar attended Pipestone High School, graduating in 1961. She continued her education by attending Stewart School of Hairstyling where she graduated in 1963 as a licensed beautician. On December 28, 1963, Dar was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas "Tom" Garrow at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived in Marshall, Minnesota and later Dudley, Minnesota where she owned and operated a beauty shop. They moved to Pipestone and lived on the homeplace for a few years before buying a farm near Ruthton, Minnesota in 1976. She worked as a beautician in Tyler, Minnesota for 30 years while running the farm with Tom. She took care of all the farm animals and over the years Dar and Tom raised pigs, cattle, and owned and bred horses. Later in life, she worked at Ruthton Elementary School as a lunch lady for several years. She entered Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Pipestone, Minnesota in November 2024. On November 17, 2025, she moved into the Pipestone County Hospice House where, surrounded by her loving family, she passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 82 years. 

Mary Phyllis Sovell, age 85, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks, MN.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, MN.  Burial will be in St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Wilno.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Thursday, November 13th at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno.  Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mildred “Millie” Mae Muchlinski, age 96 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at Dougherty House on November 6, 2025.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at St Lambert Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls with a Liturgical Wake and Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.  Interment at the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ivanhoe, MN.  In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary.

Edward "Ed" Drietz, age 84, of Volga, Minnesota, formerly of Lake Benton, Minnesota died Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Hendricks Community Hospital in Hendricks, Minnesota.
