Our Lady of the Prairie

Heavenly Father,

We come to You with heavy hearts and tired spirits, lifting up the state of Minnesota and all its people. Lord, You see the pain, the fear, the anger, and the sorrow that settles in our communities. We ask for Your mercy and grace to cover this land.

  • For peace and healing: Where there is violence and chaos, Lord, bring Your profound peace that surpasses all understanding. We pray for healing for all who are wounded in body and soul, and comfort for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Be near to the brokenhearted.
  • For wisdom and compassion: Grant wisdom to our leaders and law enforcement, that they may make wise choices guided by Your hand. Instill compassion in the hearts of all residents, helping us to see each other not as neighbors against neighbors, but as people uniquely made in Your image.
  • For unity and justice: In the midst of division and injustice, we pray for unity and truth to prevail. Help us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to speak truth boldly, so that light may break through the darkness. Remind us that You are a God of justice.
  • For protection and hope: We ask for Your divine protection over all residents, especially the vulnerable, and the children in our schools and churches. Renew our hope, even when the weight feels unbearable, and help us remember that true hope and strength are found in You.

We ask all these things in Your mighty and gracious name, so that Your love and light may shine through the darkness, bringing peace and restoration to the land of Minnesota.      AMEN

Shepherd of the Field

In September, each parish is assigned a new “Shepherd” to support in the upcoming year. It is our intention to affirm our priests in their ministry to the people of God. Our support can be by notes or letter of encouragement; acts of kindness; prayers for our Shepherd; having masses offered for him; simply saying “thank you” for accepting God’s call; remembering them on special occasions (feast days, holidays, ordination and birthday anniversaries); speaking with a positive attitude about all priests and showing our appreciation for their service to the Church.
