Dr. Melanie Weiss was born and raised in Watertown, SD.  She graduated from Watertown High School in 1990 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Biology from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.  She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1998.  She opened Weiss Eyecare Clinic in July 2003.  She is married to Paul and they have three daughters.  Dr. Weiss is giving a “Vision of Hope: to students and to the public as she is telling her personal story of opiate addiction and recovery.

21/2 years ago their life was drastically impacted by a very public arrest and criminal case as the result of a very private addiction that Melanie had.  Being an eye doctor with her own eye clinic in the town she grew up in – how could she get back what she thought she lost?  Where was she going to find Hope?  Dr. Weiss talks about how she let God in to do what she could not, how surrendering her ways for His ways has been such a beautifully rewarding journey.  She will talk about the days of feeling hopeless and how she got out of that.  Paul talks about his journey of addiction that affected his childhood and how that came full circle as part of God’s plan to help him and his daughters through this time of Melanie’s addiction and how Paul leaned on God’s promises!
